Carey is a former top fashion model who stands at nearly 5'10" was well-liked by American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979 the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists named her dad Scientist of the Year. Carey was a frequent traveler because of her father's work. The model began modeling for a part-time basis when she was a student attending college at University of Colorado and caught the attention of a representative of the Ford model Agency in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France and briefly lived in Paris and Bordeaux, before returning in New York in order to continue an acting career. Her work was showcased on Vogue and Glamour pages. In addition to modeling, she studied at New York University full-time to get a literature degree. As time passed, she was drawn to acting, and began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She began her acting career through a tiny role in 'Club Paradise which aired in 1986 alongside Robin Williams. Her leisure time is spent in wind surfing, skiing as well as rock climbing, and white water white water rafting.
